According to the United World Chart, Shakira is (as of 2007) the 6th most successful artist from the 2000s. Shakira is also the only artist to have 2 songs in the top 10 of the most successful singles from 1999, with a total of 4 singles.

Although Shakira has been in the pop Latin scene since the mid-1990s, her album Laundry Service broke through the English-speaking world and sold 15 million copies worldwide.
